Avoid Some Link Building Tips That Won't Benefit the Website

Link building is one of the four most important elements in SEO methodologies, but this can also cause the most confusion in terms of how to do the link building properly. There are some link building tips out there that would only cause harm to your website and instead of getting the ranking that you think you should get, your site can actually get penalized. Below are just three of the things of not to do when it comes to link building.

First, there are websites where you leave your back links in, and then there are those that you should not leave your backlinks in. Overzealous web masters think that if they leave their backlinks everywhere on the internet, they would be able to successfully increase the number of their visitors and probably profits as well. This is wrong. Only leave the links in websites which have relevance to what your site is dealing with. If left in websites which have no relation or are totally different categories and sub-categories, then it would only get ignored.

Second, avoid those free for all links websites. Again, most of the links where your site can end up with would not have any relevance with your website at all. There are extreme cases for example where your website may deal with baby showers and your site gets linked in a car accessories site.

Third, avoid those sites where you can do link exchange. Even if these would increase the ranking of your website, there are some sites which may do some unscrupulous activities to increase their rankings. Some get penalized by the major search engines like Google and if your site is linked to that one, you would also get penalized. Some would get totally banned, bringing your site down with them.
